SCL & Pulse Premier learners set for Europe: A football and education trip like no other

Leading providers of education through sport continue to develop outstanding opportunities for post-16 learners.

Having recently secured funding from Erasmus+; the EU programme for education, training, youth and sport, SCL Education Group are launching their first vocational project, boosting skills and employability through the opportunity to study, train and gain work experience in Europe.

Turning their attention to developing international opportunities for their young learners, the leading providers of education through sport will be sending 40 learners from their Pulse Premier Football Academy, accompanied by 10 members of staff, to Sportilia next summer, for a football and education experience like no other.

OPPORTUNITY

The two-week trip, booked for June 2019, will see 40 learners travel to Italy to experience European training facilities and technique, whilst immersing themselves within an environment where the values of conditioning, psychology, speed and skill are paramount.

Strengthening their CV with work and educational experiences, this once in a lifetime opportunity will allow learners to develop their skill through professional coaching sessions with Italian FA Coaches, before facing Italian opposition in a series of two competitive 90-minute matches.

Learners will then have the opportunity to take the reins, putting their training and studies into practice, to deliver a programme of football coaching sessions to local Italian youth players.

In addition to developing their footballing and coaching skills, learners will take part in Italian language and cooking lessons, as well as cultural trips, allowing them to experience new social and cultural practices within a European setting.

Steve Franks, Managing Director, Education and Training at SCL Education Group, explained: “We are thrilled to be able to offer this exciting opportunity to our learners at Pulse Premier Academy, and are looking forward to expanding the programme next year, providing more of our learners the opportunity to train and study overseas.

“The trip will provide the boys and girls with a unique insight into international culture, and open their minds to new techniques and opportunities within the industry.”

EXPERIENCE

Home to SCL learners and staff for the duration of their two-week stay, Sportilia; the multi-purpose sports training centre, based near Bologna, in the North of Italy, is visited each year by professional and amateur athletes from across the world.

Providing the young learners with a true insight into the world of professional sport, Sportilia houses professional facilities for both indoor and outdoor training, as well as its very own hotel, restaurant, medical centre and meeting facilities for theoretical learning.

PARTNERSHIP

Mark Anderson, Academy Manager at Pulse Premier Football Academy, added: “We are extremely proud and honoured to be able to give our students this fantastic opportunity. This will be an amazing football and educational experience and the memories and learning will always stay with those lucky enough to be part of the trip.

“It is well known that Italy is a footballing giant and culturally one of the most beautiful countries in the world to eat, study and train the Italian way. The trip will not only benefit our students, but our coaches too. The facilities are second to none and the fixtures that take place will be a magnificent experience.

Anderson continued: “Our partnership with SCL continues to flourish and to be part of this exciting venture together is something that I know everyone involved is really looking forward to.”.

Delivering a real mix between in-classroom and on-pitch learning, the Pulse Premier Academy programme, in partnership with SCL, has gone from strength to strength since opening its doors to 16-18 year olds in 2011, and prides itself on its unrivalled exit routes and progression opportunities for its learners.
